Member of wheelchair basketball team appearing at Sunday is Funday issues challenge

The Albuquerque Kings wheelchair basketball team will have a table at the Mayor's Sunday is Funday event this Sunday in Haynes Park, with videos of wheelchair basketball and team members available to answer questions.

Between noon and 2 p.m., the Kings will give a wheelchair basketball clinic. They'll provide wheelchairs people can borrow to experience the sport for themselves. The team will likely have scrimmages with rostered and non-rostered players mixed up in opposing teams.

Team member Kipp Watson said from 2 to 2:30 p.m., he will personally take on any challenger who signs up at the Kings table before 1:45 p.m. He said he will loan a wheelchair to the challenger for a game up to five buckets. If a challenger gets five buckets, he said he will donate $100 to a nonprofit organization of the challenger's choice that has a table at Sunday is Funday.

Sunday is Funday is from noon to 4 p.m.
